This information comes from released police files. Marayna Rodgers officially went missing on December 7. The remains of her body were discovered in a stretch of desert near Henderson, near Las Vegas. On December 13, 2023, Sakari Harnden was arrested. On December 15, 2023, two days later, her ex-boyfriend Comanche. Both will now be charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
The reason for the murder was a dispute over a luxury watch
According to the Los Angeles Times, Comanche and Rodgers’ ex reportedly had an argument over a luxury watch. Because of this conflict, Harnden is said to have led him to devise a gruesome murder plan. Hiring a third person to carry out Rodgers’ murder was even considered. However, when this apparently did not happen, the two took action themselves.
Because the victim made her money as a sex worker, the ex-NBA player posed as a potential customer to lure her into a car. He allegedly offered Marayna Rodgers $4,000 (CHF 3,425) for a sex date. When Rodgers then got into the ex-couple’s car as planned, she was first tied up and then strangled with an HDMI cable until she suffocated. Chance Comanche told police he stopped when the victim had trouble breathing. Harnden, on the other hand, continued to choke until the woman became unresponsive.
Chance Comanche was under contract with the Stockton Kings until mid-December, when he was released amid the murder charges. The Stockton Kings are the farm team of the NBA club Sacramento Kings and play in the G-League, the American development league.
