Davide Taini (r.) was a companion of FCZ regular goalkeeper Yanick Brecher for a long time.

Davide Taini (47) has been FCZ’s goalkeeper coach for the past eight years and played for the club during his professional days (2001 to 2006). With the championship title won in 2006 and two cup victories, the now 47-year-old achieved legendary status.

Taini recently announced on Instagram that the club has ended the partnership. This was after he was no longer able to work for several months due to health reasons (knee operation). Did everything go back and forth correctly?

For the first time, FCZ chairman Ancillo Canepa (70) comments on Taini’s dismissal. “We didn’t know how long he would be out, so we put a successor in his place. A few weeks ago we sat together and looked at what was going to happen next.”

Without legend Taini, who said goodbye to his heart club with the following words: “Unfortunately, now is the time to say goodbye. I have carried out my work as a goalkeeper coach with great pleasure, passion and enthusiasm.”

From now on, Dean Santangelo (30), who acted as a replacement in Taini’s absence and was already active in the FCZ youth team, will take over his task. Canepa: “It is always a risk when goalkeepers work with the same coach for too long, which endangers their further development. And we received only positive feedback about Dean.”
