Good news about Tom Lockyer: The professional footballer was able to leave the hospital again.

After five days of medical care, Tom Lockyer was allowed to leave the hospital on Wednesday. The 29-year-old captain of Premier League team Luton Town collapsed on the field in the 59th minute of the away match at Bournemouth last Saturday and had to be resuscitated.

As the club reports, Lockyer has now had a defibrillator implanted in hospital following his cardiac arrest. “We are pleased to announce that our captain Tom Lockyer has now begun his rehabilitation phase at home following his release from hospital on Wednesday,” Luton Town wrote on their homepage.

Game is completely replayed

It was Lockyer’s second collapse on the field. A similar incident caused the professional footballer great concern during the championship play-off final in May this year.

At that time, Lockyer was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation. This is a heart disease that causes an irregular and usually too fast heartbeat.

The match between Bournemouth and Luton was abandoned when the score was 1-1. The match will be replayed in full at a later date. (cat)
