Drama surrounding former Argentine football star Ezequiel Lavezzi (38): According to the newspaper “El Observador”, the former PSG and Napoli attacker, who ended his career in China in 2020, was admitted to hospital in the Uruguayan city of Maldonado early on Wednesday morning.
Victim of a knife attack?
As the newspaper reports, citing police sources, a fight broke out between relatives over money at his holiday villa in José Ignacio. Lavezzi is said to have suffered an injury to his stomach from a stabbing weapon.
This alleged knife attack has not yet been verified. The Ministry of the Interior contradicts this story and explains instead that Lavezzi was taken to hospital because of a broken collarbone. It is not yet entirely clear what exactly happened and why he is actually in the hospital.
Lavezzi played 51 times for Argentina between 2007 and 2016, including the round of 16 against Switzerland at the 2014 World Cup. In Europe, he appeared 188 times for Napoli and 161 times for PSG.
