Netflix has announced that it will broadcast a tennis match live: on March 3, 22-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal and current number 2 in the world, Carlos Alcaraz, will meet. The event is advertised as “Netflix Slam”.
The match will take place at noon at the Michelob ULTRA Arena at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. It is organized by American hotel and casino operator MGM Resort International. Tickets go on sale Friday starting at $88.
No competition with the television channels
The streaming pioneer will conduct the moderation as a dual broadcast in English and Spanish, Netflix announced in a statement. It is Netflix’s second live sports broadcast, following its first celebrity golf tournament in November. However, Netflix has no plans to compete with television channels in the live sports field. Instead, they want to focus on documentary series like ‘Formula 1: Drive to Survive’. (Gentlemen)
