Disappointing conclusion for the Swiss floorball women at the World Cup in Singapore. After the semi-final defeat against Sweden, they lost the match for third place against the Czech Republic 4:5. This is the first time since 2011 that Switzerland has not won a medal at a women’s floorball world championship.
Things look good for Switzerland at the start, coach Oscar Lundin’s team leads 2-0 early on. But the Czechs are able to respond and level the match.
It’s too late to rebel
The last third is tough. Five goals are scored. Switzerland can still respond to the first deficit, but after the 3:5 the recovery comes too late. In the closing minutes they came close again with a goal, but Switzerland narrowly missed the equalizer. (bjl)
