The SCRJ attacker has been suspended as a precaution and proceedings have been opened against him. The scene from the match in Lausanne that led to this is giving the Czechs a headache.
Here’s what happened: Frk misses Lawrence Pilut (27) with his check on the boards in front of the Lakers bench. The Swedish LHC defender then tries to push his opponent over the boards. “It was a frightening situation and a dangerous moment,” said Frk, who later rewatched the scene. “I didn’t know my leg went up that high and my skate was there.”
But what worries Frk the next day is that he is believed to be intentional. That he deliberately swung his leg and thus the skate so high. The 30-year-old can hardly believe it. “My only thought at that moment was to keep my balance so as not to fall over the boards,” the ex-SCB player emphasizes. “Never in my life would I want to intentionally hurt someone or hit someone with my skate.”
