New recording contract for the Premier League.

Windfall for the English top clubs: Europe’s best-paying TV contract will bring a total of approximately 7.8 billion euros into the coffers of the Premier League clubs in the football mother country for four years from 2025.

That is 1.95 billion euros per season. The free-to-air television rights are secured by the pay-TV channels Sky Sports and TNT Sports, as well as the public broadcaster BBC.

Bundesliga far behind

By comparison, the German Football League (DFL) collects 1.1 billion euros annually from its contract concluded in 2021. In the previous exploitation period of the rights, the German record amount of 1.16 billion euros per season flowed to the DFL and its clubs.

The Premier League also generates additional revenue by changing the contract period from the current three years to four years in the future. The TV contract, which runs until the summer of 2025, has a total volume of 5.5 billion euros or 1.83 billion euros annually. (AFP/mab)
