Fabienne Schlumpf (33) shines again with a record. The woman from Zurich lowers the Swiss record at the Valencia marathon to 2:24:30. The 33-year-old runs almost a minute faster than two and a half months ago in Berlin, where she had already bought her Olympic ticket for Paris 2024.
Fabienne Schlumpf was able to train as planned in recent weeks and consciously aimed for the record on the flat course in the Spanish port city. She started faster than Berlin, especially in the first half of the race.
The race in Spain was very busy. Ethiopian Worknesh Degefa (33) won in 2:15:51 hours. Fabienne Schlumpf takes 14th place.
Ethiopia’s Sisay Lemma (32) set a top-class winning time (2:01:48). In the chasing groups, Patrik Wägeli (32) from Thurgau achieved personal best times with 2:12:58 and Dominik Rolli (27) from Bern with 2:14:35.
