Although final runner Jeremy Finello lost two places, the Swiss quartet finished in a strong seventh place.

The Swiss men’s quartet took seventh place in the first World Cup relay race of the winter in Östersund, Sweden, with Norway living up to its role as favorite.

The team with Sebastian Stalder (25), Joscha Burkhalter (27), Niklas Hartweg (23) and Jeremy Finello (31) achieved their main goal with their performance. The team management had set a requirement for a ranking in the top eight.

Last runner Finello lost two places

Stalder, who surprised everyone on Sunday with fifth place in the individual over 20 kilometers, once again showed a convincing performance as a starting runner. The Oberlander from Zurich handed over the lead to Burkhalter.

The Bernese Oberlander could not hold the top position for long, gradually falling back and sending Hartweg to 8th place in his category. The man from Schwyz, who, like Stalder, only had to reload once in the shooting range, made up three positions again.

Final runner Jeremy Finello lost two places due to, among other things, a penalty after the standing shooting. Norway won comfortably ahead of France and Germany. (SDA/men)
