The Novartis logo has been on the FC Basel shirt since 2004. But that will change soon. As the club announces, the Basel pharmaceutical company “has decided, for business strategy reasons, not to extend the current contract with the professional team of FC Basel 1893 beyond the end of the 2024/2025 season.” “From that moment on, we are no longer the main sponsor of FCB.”
Novartis will invest the resulting funds “in equal amounts in existing and new projects that benefit the population in the cross-border region.” FC Basel still retains Novartis. The company focuses on more intensive support for youth work and the women’s department of the club.
“Thanks to the enormous support of this large international company with regional roots, the FCB has always had a strong and loyal partner at its side over the years, in both good and bad times,” club boss David Degen is quoted in the statement.
