Penalty kick throws Swiss duo back
Biathlon: Niklas Hartweg and Amy Baserga ensured a solid Swiss start to the season in Östersund. The duo took 6th place in the single mixed relay.
The number two of the Swiss European Championships remained on course for a podium finish until halfway through the race. With his last help, Hartweg took too much risk when shooting from a standing position and was awarded a penalty. The last runner from Einsiedeln took over in 5th place. At the finish she was only 18 seconds behind the podium. Sweden secured victory, ahead of Norway and France.
7th place in the Olympic mixed relay
Biathlon: In the Olympic mixed relay over 4×6 km, Switzerland, consisting of Sebastian Stalder, Jeremy Finello, Aita Gasparin and Lena Häcki-Gross, finished in 7th place with ten reserves and almost three minutes behind. Starting runner Stalder showed an excellent performance. The Zurich native made no mistakes on the shooting range and finished just behind Norway in second place. Ultimately, France won confidently against the Norwegians.

Cross-country skiing: For women, the hierarchies appear to have barely shifted. Over a 10 km classic with an individual start, the Swede Ebba Andersson repeated her victory from last year in Kuusamo – exactly as Emma Ribom had already achieved in the sprint on Friday. Nadine Fähndrich impressed with a twelfth place, less than a minute behind. The Central Swiss woman has never performed so well in a distance race on the selective course around the Arctic Circle.
Klee equaled his career best result
Cross-country skiing: Beda Klee finished eleventh in Kuusamo over a 10 km classic with an individual start and defeated Johannes Hösflot Klaebo, among others. With this performance, the 27-year-old from Toggenburg equaled his best career result at the World Cup. 31-year-old Norwegian Martin Nyenget celebrated his second World Cup victory after winning the legendary fifty in Oslo a year and a half ago.
Britschgi shines with Grand Prix podium
Figure skating: 25-year-old Lukas Britschgi from Schaffhausen achieved his first podium finish at this level with third place at the Grand Prix in Osaka, Japan.
