FCSG suffers under Fazliji
On Thursday, FCSG crowd favorite Betim Fazliji (24) tore his cruciate ligament, and a day later people in Eastern Switzerland were still struggling with words. Coach Peter Zeidler (61) speaks of a “big shock”. Teammate Jozo Stanic (24) also thinks of his colleague: “You immediately noticed that something was wrong. It’s never nice to see something like that. But because of the way I got to know Betim, I think he has a huge fighting heart.” The Rheintaler will probably not play for the FCSG again this season. However, there is good news from Lukas Görtler (29). The captain is in favor back in the selection for the first time since his foot injury at the end of August.
Zeidler has respect for Celestini
Peter Zeidler played against no other coach more often than against the new FCB coach Fabio Celestini. In 18 matches there were seven victories and eight defeats. The bitterest is probably in the cup final, when the former captain of Olympique Marseille was on the sidelines at FCL. Zeidler says he has “the utmost respect” for Celestini. Because unlike him, Romand had a great career as a player.
22,300 tickets have already been sold
The fact that FCB is in last place in the rankings does not seem to have a major impact on the number of spectators in the Joggeli. Yesterday, Friday, 22,300 tickets were sold. FCB coach Fabio Celestini will have to do without the suspended Gabriel Sigua against FCSG. Maurice Malone is struggling with knee problems, Arnau Comas, Sergio López, Jean-Kévin Augustin and Andrin Hunziker are also injured. Central defender Adrian Barisic returns next week.
YB has to do without Imeri and Itten
Very bitter news for the Young Boys ahead of the Super League top battle against FCZ and the important Champions League match against Red Star Belgrade: Kastriot Imeri (23) and Cedric Itten (26) have to take a long break. Imeri will be out for about six months, Itten for a few weeks. YB announced this on Friday. The timing couldn’t be worse.
FCZ expands with three players
For the top match against YB at home in Letzigrund (18,000 tickets have already been sold), the FCZ extended the contract with three players in one fell swoop. Bledian Krasniqi (22) is particularly remarkable: the homegrown player extended his contract during the summer holidays until 2026 and now signs until 2027. Things also went quickly for summer newcomer Rodrigo Conceicao (23). The Portuguese extends his contract until 2027. Goalkeeper Zivko Kostadinovic (31), the reliable and never picky backup to captain Yanick Brecher, will also stay longer: until 2025.
