NHL star Milan Lucic (35) must appear in court in Boston on Tuesday. Prosecutors have filed charges against the Bruins forward.
Lucic, who often let his fists do the talking during his career on the ice, is said to have become violent during an argument with his wife Brittany. Local police responded to an emergency call and arrested the hockey player. NHL officials then announced this weekend that Lucic would be on indefinite leave.
Hidden cell phone as trigger
The incident was described in more detail in a police report available from the Boston Globe newspaper. Lucic, who could only play four games this season due to an ankle injury, probably came home drunk. An argument with his wife escalated. Lucic accused her of hiding his cell phone. When she wanted to leave, he did not let her go and, among other things, pulled her back by her hair – the report states. The couple’s children would not have spent the night in the apartment, but with friends elsewhere.
At the scene, police found broken glass and a broken lamp as signs of the altercation. Based on the evidence, the Public Prosecution Service decided to file charges against Lucic.
