Before the start of the qualifying campaign for the 2024 European Championship, Kazakhstan and Moldova were not even among the extensive circle of candidates for a ticket for the final in Germany. Neither national team had ever appeared on the big stage of world football, let alone competed in a major tournament. However, that could change on Monday evening.
Before this year’s group stage, the Moldovan national team only achieved victories in qualifying matches against other so-called lightweights such as San Marino and Andorra.
