Everything is at stake for the Czechs in their last qualifying match against Moldova on Monday. One point is enough to definitively obtain their EM ticket. But one day before the decisive match, the team of coach Jaroslav Silhavy (62) is faced with a scandal.
As the Czech portal “Sport.cz” reports, Jakub Brabec (31), Vladimir Coufal (31) and Jan Kuchta (26) were expelled from the team. The reason: The three players were caught on Sunday evening during a party in the Belmondo disco in Olomouc (Czech Republic) and drank alcohol.
Three major pillars are eliminated
“Three national team players violated the internal rules on Saturday evening. Jakub Brabec, Vladimir Coufal and Jan Kuchta have left the team with immediate effect by decision of the national team management,” the association wrote on Instagram about the incident.
Tomas Neumann, an executive member of the Czech Football Association, also joined the party. According to witnesses, the players were outside until the early hours. Photos and videos of the trio in the said club are circulating on X.
The three players were part of the permanent staff of the Czech national team. On Friday they were all in the starting line-up against Poland (1-1). Now they have to watch the crucial match against Moldova from home. (mab)
