For the four-time world champion from CC Aarau, the opening match was in stark contrast to last year’s European Championship final in Östersund, which they lost to the Danes led by Madeleine Dupont. This time they dominated from the first end. After a stolen four-man home made the score 6-0, the match was all but decided after just two games. The Danes scored the point of honor in the 6th end and then gave up.

Decisive three-person home of the CC Geneva

The curlers of Yannick Schwaller from CC Genève – last year they also came second at the European Championships – initially had to fight hard to gain a relevant lead in the match against outsider Turkey with skip Ugurcan Karagöz. However, a three-pointer in the 5th end gave them a 5-1 lead. They never gave up this reserve.

The Turkish teams, both men and women, have improved enormously in Europe in recent years. They are now taken seriously by all opponents. (SDA)
