Three years ago, mountain runner Stéphanie Perriard was suspended for using banned substances and passing on Sustanon (used to increase testosterone). She accepted the punishment at the time and paid a fine of 120 francs.
However, Swiss Sport Integrity has now announced that the 38-year-old will be banned from any sport for a further six years. “Important information from third parties to Swiss Sport Integrity has strengthened the suspicion that the ban could be ignored,” the statement said.
Excluded from all sports
According to investigations, Perriard “impermissibly attempted to influence the investigation in her favor through misleading and false statements.” There was a suspicion that she had participated in events in another sport or in another capacity.
Such a violation would effectively result in a seven-year ban. However, Swiss Sport Integrity proposed six years, which the athlete accepted and paid a fine of 1,500 francs. “The ban, which has now lasted a total of nine years, remains in effect for all sports and all positions in sports worldwide.” (ch)
