Ten-time GP winner Valtteri Bottas (34) is naked again, but this time for a good cause. For 2024, the Alfa Sauber driver is selling a calendar with nude photos in collaboration with German star photographer Paul Ripke (42) in which he proudly presents his bare butt in different poses 13 times.
‘Bottass 2024’ is the title of the calendar, which is made up of the name Bottas and the English term for bottom (‘ass’). It sounds funny, but the Finn wants to draw attention to a serious matter with the campaign. The proceeds from the sale go to the ‘Movember’ foundation, which is committed to preventing prostate cancer. The sales price of the calendar is approximately 20 euros, of which five euros will be donated to prostate cancer research projects.
Bottas once gave Hamilton a nude photo
It is no coincidence that the donations go to cancer research: “I know a few people who had close relatives with such problems,” says Bottas. The ‘Movember’ campaign focuses on men’s health and that one should not be afraid to talk about such topics. That’s why he “went all in and tried to use the photos to set an example that you don’t have to be afraid.”
The inspiration for the calendar was an image that went viral in an Instagram post in May 2022. The photo shows the 2019 and 2020 runner-up lying on his stomach in a river while on vacation in Aspen. Only the upper body and naked torso of the 34-year-old stick out of the water. Photographer Paul Ripke took the snapshot at the time. A little later he also gave the nude photo to his ex-teammate Lewis Hamilton (38).
“This photo turned out to be quite popular at the time. Paul and I were joking about the idea of creating a full calendar. When November came, the Movember month, we decided to really do it,” Bottas explains.
Bottas has already drawn blank several times
The Formula 1 star repeatedly published photos without clothes on social media – usually from behind, so that his butt was visible. He last presented his bloody Füdli in June this year at a lake in his home country of Finland. He had his picture taken in the cool water wearing only a hat on his head.
