A smile here, a hug there, a handshake there. On Thursday morning, Urs Fischer (57) appeared for the last time at the club building of the Bundesliga club after his dismissal as Union coach to say goodbye to his former colleagues, staff and players.
Breakfast with ex-employees
There was breakfast for everyone who is not with their national team during the current international break: players, bosses, employees. As a result, even the team’s training was canceled.
There are even some fans there to say goodbye. ‘Bild’ writes that Fischer gave autographs to the Union supporters one last time before saying goodbye.
The photos show the extent of Fischer’s departure and how much the cult coach achieved for and with Union Berlin. An employee warmly hugs the man from Zurich. In the realization that he made the club suitable for the first division and led it to the Champions League.
Memories for eternity
The fans also thank him and even give him a bottle of wine, which puts a slight smile on Fischer’s face 24 hours after his release.
After about an hour, the Fischer era at the old forestry company finally comes to an end. And that also applies to the intensive, memorable and historic collaboration. But Fischer will certainly not be forgotten. Even in 100 years he would still be remembered, said club legend Torsten Mattuschka (43) in Blick (read more here). (par)
