When Aaron Ramsdale (25) moved to Arsenal in 2021, he immediately took over as the Gunners’ regular goalkeeper. In his first season in London he guarded the goal in 34 Premier League games, and in all 38 last season.
And now his main job is to take care of the bank. The 25-year-old was allowed to play the first four games, after which David Raya (28), on loan from Brentford, was put in front of him. The decision by coach Mikel Arteta (41) took its toll on the national goalkeeper (four caps), as he recently admitted: “There are days when I suffer and it hurts me that I don’t play.”

We don’t know why it happened like this.” When Nick Ramsdale spoke to Arteta in the summer of 2021, before his son was signed, the Spaniard assured him that he really wanted Aaron. “And now Raya was on the market and he wanted have him.”
