There will be no more WTA tournaments in Switzerland next year. The Ladies Open in Lausanne, which was held for the first time in 2019, is a thing of the past.
Tournament director Jean-François Collet confirmed this to Keystone-SDA. Collet has decided to accept a takeover bid from an organizer who would like to hold a WTA 500 tournament in Linz instead of the level 250 events in Lausanne and Hamburg. The uncertainty about the commitment of the city of Lausanne also influenced the decision.
The Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto is the fourth and last winner in Lausanne. For the Swiss women, the quarter-finals marked the end of all tournaments in Vaud. (SDA)
