Sweden is considering a bid for the 2030 Winter Olympics.

The Swedish government supports the National Olympic Committee’s ambition to bring the 2030 Winter Olympics to the country. Switzerland is also interested in this and the Swiss Sports Parliament will decide on the next step on November 24. The IOC wants to announce the host for the 2030 and 2034 Winter Games next year.

In the Swedish application, the Stockholm region is intended as the main location. Competitions could also be held in Falun, Åre and Östersund, as well as in Latvia and Norway. However, guarantees from the government only come if only existing competition locations are used. It would be the first Winter Games to take place in Sweden. (SDA/che)
