Men’s hockey has become accustomed to defeats against Sweden. On Saturday, Patrick Fischer’s team conceded for the 13th time in a row. Women, on the other hand, do not (yet) have a Sweden complex. After all, they have repeatedly achieved victories against the Scandinavians in recent years.
But now Colin Muller’s team had to accept three defeats in three days against Sweden at the “2 Nations Tournament” in Weinfelden TG. A 2:4 (Swiss goals: Alina Marti and Mara Frey) and a 1:4 (Lena-Marie Lutz) are followed by a 0:4 on Saturday.
The Swiss had a desolate start in front of 347 spectators. After nine minutes, goalkeeper Saskia Maurer has already been beaten three times. And there is little going on offensively in the absence of the two world-class strikers Lara Stalder and Alina Müller.
“Not showing what we can do”
“It’s not what we imagined,” says striker Lisa Rüdi when SRF asks her about her conclusion from the three games. “With such a weak start, that is simply not enough. We have shown several times that we can play when our minds are ready. I don’t think we are the worst team. We just haven’t shown what we can do.” (sr)
