David (22) is the youngest motorsport hope in the Schumacher family. Ralf’s son (48) has been racing in the DTM racing series since last year and thus continues the family legacy: uncle Michael (54) is the record world champion in Formula 1, father Ralf is a six-time race winner and cousin Mick (24) is also active in Formula 1.
However, mother Cora Schumacher (46) plays no role in David’s life. As she recently revealed to RTL, she has not had contact with her son since her divorce from Ralf in 2015.
The broken relationship with her son seems to put pressure on the model: “To be honest, I don’t really know why exactly,” Cora said in tears to the German TV channel. Nevertheless, her son “will always be the most important thing in her life.”
Harsh words from David
David himself seems to ignore the whole thing. During the award ceremony for ‘The Golden Steering Wheel’, where the youngster represents the entire Schumacher family, RTL asked him about his relationship with his mother. “I have no comment on that,” he answers succinctly, without changing his face.
His relationship with dad Ralf, on the other hand, is completely different: “We are open about everything and always talk about everything. He helps me a lot, also in motorsport. “I’m grateful to have him by my side,” says David enthusiastically. (bjl)
