Groningen takes care of the worries for a while and continues to switch in Dordrecht
FC Groningen secured the second round of the cup tournament when they visited FC Dordrecht. Groningen, who are having a difficult time this season, dominated almost the entire game and won 3-0.
Groningen played in special black jerseys with “tears” sewn into them, commemorating the earthquakes the province has been struggling with.

In terms of sport, FC Groningen is certainly not doing well this season. Under the new coach Frank Wormuth, the Eredivisie is developing dramatically. The club is 16th and have lost their last four games.
FC Dordrecht has developed very well in recent weeks. The first division team does particularly well against stronger teams: the last two games were won against PEC Zwolle (3-0) and VVV-Venlo (1-0).
Groningen dominates, counters there
Groningen had a difficult time in the early stages of the game at the Krommedijk. Certainly the industrious Aliou Baldé van Dordrecht, Feyenoord mercenary, proved difficult to defend. Only in the rounding was the Senegalese sloppy.
After about twenty minutes, Groningen got a better handle on things. That led to the opening goal just before half-time when Neraysho Kasanwirjo conceded and fired the ball into the far post.

After the break, Dordrecht stayed in the game for a long time and with a shot by Baldé, coach Michele Santoni’s team came very close to 1-1. But it actually remained exciting for a long time because of Ricardo Pepi, who missed a few opportunities that were given up.
After eighty minutes Kasanwirjo decided the game with his second goal. He worked on a Cyril Ngonge cross with a skillful header past goalkeeper Trevor Doornbusch. In added time it was still 3-0 and it was Pepi who scored his goal.
