Will Yann Sommer’s Inter Milan have a new owner?

Will Inter Milan switch from Chinese to Finnish hands? The Finn Thomas Zilliacus (67) has announced that he wants to make a purchase offer for Inter to current owner Steven Zhang.

Zilliacus, former Nokia boss and currently director of an investment company, announces the upcoming offer via X. He signed contracts with investors willing to invest $2.5 billion in his projects. Part of the money will be invested in a renewed offer to Inter.

Zilliacus Vision: Fans should have a say

The Champions League finalist is not the first European top club for which the Singapore-based businessman has publicly expressed interest. He wanted to buy Manchester United in the spring and finance 50 percent of the purchase price with the help of fans. Supporters would then have had a say in the most important decisions within the club via an app. His reason: he doesn’t want sheikhs and oligarchs to rule football as their personal playground.

Would he have the same ideas for goalkeeper Yann Sommer’s club? If so, he didn’t announce it in the same style this time. Zilliacus leaves no doubt at ‘La Repubblica’ that he takes the offer seriously. He would like to have operating partners for the business, but they would have to share his vision for the club’s future.

One thing is clear: there is no provision for loss-making business practices. It would be part of a strategy to invest more in Italy. The fashion and real estate sectors also interest him. (dti)
