Stan Wawrinka made a cameo appearance in Metz in the first round.

After two first round defeats in Basel and Paris, Stan Wawrinka easily won his opening match at the ATP 250 tournament in Metz. He defeated Spaniard Bernabe Zapata Mirallas 6:0, 6:2.

Wawrinka (ATP 53), good-humored and very aggressive, got off to a lightning start against the world number 81: he needed only 18 minutes to win the first set and conceded only five points.

Even after that, the 38-year-old impressed with powerful punches and numerous net strikes. After 52 minutes he uses his second match point.
