Coach Edin Terzic (41) of Borussia Dortmund expects an angry Bayern in the league match after the cup disgrace. “I have rarely seen two bad Bayern games in a row. Their senses are always sharper against us than against some opponent. Now there is a bit of anger added,” says Terzic prior to Saturday’s top match (6:30 PM in the Blick live ticker).
The serial champions from Munich failed on Wednesday in the DFB Cup against third division club 1. FC Saarbrücken (1:2). But despite the defeat and the personnel problems, Terzic is counting on a strong opponent. “There were phases this season where they weren’t very happy with their performance. But they can always ignite. With 34 goals they are on course for a record,” says the BVB coach and adds: “They will not spare anyone. We know your strengths. We know the quality of the opponent. It will be a very difficult task.”
Kobel as BVB captain in the classic?
Terzic is still concerned about the deployment of captain Emre Can (29), the recently injured Marius Wolf is probably available. If Can were actually unavailable, Gregor Kobel (25) would lead BVB onto the field as captain. He would be the second Swiss to lead the black-yellow team in the classic. Alex Frei (44) wore the armband twice in six days against Munich in April 2008. First Dortmund suffered a 0-5 defeat in the league, then they lost the DFB Cup final 1-2 after extra time.
Bayern go into the match second in the table, two points ahead of fourth-placed Dortmund. BVB has been waiting for a league victory against its rivals for five years. “We’ve come a lot closer to annoying them in the past. We must learn that these games can be decided by small things. We must gain effectiveness in our game,” demands Terzic. (AFP/che)
