Umbrella and towel instead of racket and ball: Aryna Sabalenka still has to worry about the semi-finals of the WTA Finals.

The decisive match in Group A between Aryna Sabalenka (25, WTA 1) and Elena Rybakina (24, WTA 4) could not be completed on Thursday evening.

After winning the starting set (6:2), Sabalenka trailed 3:5 in the second round, while Rybakina served when the match had to be stopped. The winner of this match will be second in the group and will receive a ticket for the semi-finals. The match will continue late Friday afternoon, Mexican time.

Jessica Pegula (29, ATP 5), group winner after winning against the Belarusian and the Kazakh, did not need much time to play the first singles match of the day. The American defeated the Greek Maria Sakkari (28, WTA 9) 6:3, 6:2 in 80 minutes and finished the preliminary round undefeated. (SDA)
