Nati selection for the Karjala Cup: Patrick Fischer brings along a newcomer from SCB

Naticoach Patrick Fischer has called up 26 players for the Karjala Cup from November 9 to 12, 2023 in Tampere, Finland.

Marco Lehmann (24) from SC Bern is the only player who has never played for the national team. There is also the indestructible, 40-year-old HCD captain Andres Ambühl.

The team will travel to Finland next Monday to optimally prepare for the tournament. “A large part of the last World Cup team is in the selection,” says Patrick Fischer, “we want to pick up the World Cup spirit again and continue where we left off before the summer.”

Consideration for CHL teams

Fischer said that out of respect for the teams in the round of 16 of the Champions Hockey League, he was without several players from Servette, Biel and the SCRJ Lakers.

Asked about the goals for the Karjala Cup, Fischer says: “We want to continue to grow together as a team and deliver consistently high performance, regardless of the circumstances.”

The Swiss play against Finland on Thursday (November 9, 5:30 PM), on Saturday (November 11, 12:00 PM) and on Sunday (November 12, 12:00 PM) against the Czech Republic. All three games will take place in the modern Nokia Arena in Tampere and can be seen live on SRF info. (sr)
