When Circus Knie performed in Sion last Saturday evening, FC Sion boss Christian Constantin (66) did not want to miss the show. Together with his friend, gallery owner Léonard Gianadda (88), CC enjoys the spectacle in the tent.

Only: both Constantin and Gianadda would have happily given up the excitement afterwards.

“It was horrible!”

The two friends want to drive home in Constantin’s Lamborghini Urus. The Sion president maneuvers the 2.2-ton SUV out of the parking lot, but then has to brake abruptly. “Suddenly we heard a loud scream,” Hannelore Luy describes the situation to “L’Illustré”. On Saturday evening the doctor accompanied the two friends. She witnesses the drama in the parking lot.

Christian Constantin apparently believed that his friend was already sitting quietly in the back seat of the car. But Gianadda hasn’t actually gotten into the car yet and still has one foot on the road. “His foot ended up under the rear wheel, causing Léonard to hit his face on the concrete,” Luy continues. “It was horrible!”

Several circus artists immediately come running – and get to work straight away. Together they lift Constantin’s car and free Gianadda, who is lying on the ground. The art lover is eventually taken to hospital by ambulance. “We feared the worst,” says Luy.

Double break for the art lover

The doctors determined that Gianadda had a double open fracture of her fibula. “During the accident I heard someone asking if I was dead,” Gianadda said of the accident. “But I was lucky in adversity.”

And CC? He is still shaken after the incident. ‘It happened so quickly. In one second, a magical evening turned into a nightmare.”
