Adam Johnson (29) was seriously injured on the ice. The Nottingham Panthers player played once in the NHL with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

A serious accident turns the British ice hockey league upside down. It is the 33rd minute of the Nottingham Panthers’ Challenge Cup away match against the Sheffield Steelers.

Adam Johnson (29), former player of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the NHL, collides with another player – and is hit in the throat by his skate, according to British media! Apparently the runner cut his neck.

Needs to be revived at Icefield

According to the Daily Mail, Johnson tries to run back to the bench of his Nottingham Panthers but collapses on the ice. Team doctors immediately rush to him. The players form a circle around him and then a privacy screen is set up. Johnson loses a lot of blood and apparently needs to be resuscitated at the rink.

The viewers are shocked. “It was without a doubt the worst thing I have ever experienced, I am so sorry. We are all absolutely sick and praying for a miracle,” someone wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “The stuff nightmares are made of,” another. One viewer wrote: “I can’t stop crying.”

Game has been cancelled

The game is stopped and the 8,000 spectators are asked to leave the arena.

Many spectators were in tears and hugged each other as they left the arena. “It was terrible. “People were crying, some fainted,” an eyewitness told the Daily Mail.
