Kramer is the second Dutch athlete to receive an award from ANOC, the umbrella organization for national Olympic committees. Ireen Wüst already received an ANOC Award in 2014 as the best athlete at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi.

The 36-year-old Kramer ended his career after the Winter Games in Beijing in February this year. He won a total of four Olympic gold medals, was nine-time world all-around champion and ten-time European all-around champion.
