(Almost) nothing stands in the way of the World Cup premiere at the foot of the Matterhorn: the new “Gran Becca” descent in Zermatt and Cervinia has successfully passed the FIS snow inspection.
On November 11 and 12, the men would start their first descent on the highest circuit (starting at 3,720 meters above sea level) of the World Cup calendar. A week later, two women’s descents are scheduled. Last year, the planned premiere fell victim to the lack of snow.
There is still a complaint from the Valais building committee against the route. Even if this were to remain the case, the organizers would have a plan B with an alternative route.
