The first third between the SCRJ Lakers and Zug must be played with only one main referee. Daniel Stricker is on his own because his partner Julien Staudenmann suffered from overload during the warm-up. But Stricker knows how to help himself: he quickly calls his colleague Lars Arpagaus, a referee from the Swiss League, and asks if he can intervene.

Does anything ring a bell? Exactly, this Lars Arpagaus has already made an unexpected appearance in the National League. At the beginning of January, the 38-year-old was a spectator in the stands in Davos when Ken Mollard was injured at the start of the second third against Geneva. It was the Dutch premiere of Arpagaus.

This time the Churer is comfortably sitting on the couch at home watching TV, he tells MySports in an interview after the match. He doesn’t think about it for long, just packs his things and leaves for Rapperswil-Jona SG. “Maybe I drove a little faster than I should have,” he admits. Arpagaus makes it to the second third of the match, which from now on will again be led by two head referees. Both the Lakers and Zug, who won 5-2, responded well and were understanding.
