The Valais building committee has banned part of the installation for the Ski World Cup in Zermatt.

According to the Valais Building Committee (KBK), some of the installations for the Ski World Cup in Zermatt USA are located outside the approved ski area. It has therefore issued an immediate ban on the use of the affected facilities outside the approved zone.

The construction committee announced on Tuesday that it could not fly to the Theodul Glacier in Zermatt to view the area and take measurements due to bad weather. It could therefore not determine whether the work undertaken was carried out in accordance with the plan of the planned descent submitted by the organizer.

Small area outside the boundaries

However, based on the plan of the planned descent, the Commission had already established that some installations were located in a very small area outside the approved ski area on Swiss territory.

The organizers remain calm after this decision. The local organizing committee (LOC) of the Matterhorn Cervino Speed Opening has decided not to appeal the decision, which would have been possible.

Minor corrections are pending

“As soon as the weather situation allows due to the pleasant snowfall of recent days, a corresponding correction will be made without any problems, without affecting the route from a sporting perspective,” the organizing committee wrote in a statement. They further write: “It is important for the LOC that the on-site inspection of the cantonal building committee takes place as soon as possible, so that there is clarity.”

According to information from Blick, the races are not in danger. (men/MWP/SDA)
