Horrible scenes in Austria: In the Regionalliga East, TWL Elektra’s match against the Vienna Sport Club had to be canceled because Sport Club defender Philip Dimov (33) had previously collided with the opponent’s goalkeeper.
The incident took place in the 14th minute of the match. The hit defender had to be treated while he was still on the field. Dimov was then transported to hospital in a rescue helicopter that landed on the lawn. The match was subsequently cancelled.
No details on health status
Nothing more precise is currently known about his health condition. Sports club coach Jürgen Csandl told the “Kurier” that Dimov was unresponsive and spitting blood until he was taken away.
Dimov was trained at Rapid Vienna, but never broke through as a first division professional. Since 2018, he has played for Wiener SC in Austria’s third highest division. (par)
