The International Olympic Committee suspends the Russian National Olympic Committee (ROC) over the inclusion of four annexed Ukrainian territories. The IOC director decided this during the meeting in Mumbai, India. However, no decision has yet been made on the possible participation of Russian athletes in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The IOC said this must happen “at the right time”.
A week ago, the ROC accepted the regional sports organizations of the Ukrainian regions of Kherson, Zaporizhia, Donetsk and Luhansk as members. This constitutes a violation of the IOC Charter and violates the territorial integrity of Ukraine, the Executive Committee decided. (SDA)
