Beach Volleyball World Championship in Mexico: Three Swiss duos reach the knockout phase

Late on Monday evening, Böbner/Vergé-Dépré, seeded number 17, won against previously undefeated favorites Katja Stam/Raïsa Schoon from the Netherlands 21:19, 21:19. Only due to the slightly worse points ratio, the Swiss duo finished in second place behind the Dutch.

Vergé-Dépré/Mäder secured the group victory with clear success. The number 13 seeded duo defeated the number 12 seeded Mexican duo Atenas Gutierrez/Abril Flores on Tuesday evening in 21:6 and 21:15.

Vergé-Dépré/Mäder will face the Italians Valentina Gottardi/Marta Menegatti in the eighth finals on Wednesday evening. On Thursday evening, Hüberli/Brunner will meet the Polish duo Jagoda Gruszczynska/Aleksandra Wachowicz, Böbner/Vergé-Dépré will play against the French duo Lezana Placette/Alexia Richard. (SDA)
