Russian youth teams are currently excluded from UEFA competitions. A solution to integrate the U17 selections into the ongoing European Championship qualification was not found during the meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee in Nyon. “The topic has been removed from the agenda because no technical solution could be found to allow Russian teams to play,” UEFA said.

At the end of September, the board of the continental association decided to allow Russian junior teams to participate in European competitions again without an anthem or flag. This was sharply criticized. More than ten associations – including England, Sweden, Poland and Ukraine – had announced that they did not want to compete against Russian teams. (SDA/dti)
