Four Swiss women in the top 10: mountain biker Neff narrowly misses the podium

Jolanda Neff ends the World Cup season with a strong comeback – but without a podium finish.

In difficult, cycling-like conditions, Neff came within 15 seconds of the podium on the technically demanding course with a strong race ahead. There is no longer enough power to overtake the Dutch Puck Pieterse, who is already the overall World Cup winner, at the finish.

The overall victory went to the French Loana Lecomte, 15 seconds ahead of the Swedish Jenny Rissveds, despite a flat rear tire halfway through the race. With Alessandra Keller (8th place), Sina Frei (9th) and Nicole Koller (10th), three other Swiss women reached the top 10.

For Neff, whose form curve has been pointing upwards lately after complicated months, this is the best result of the season. A week earlier, the 30-year-old had finished fifth in Snowshoe.

Two years after the triple victory at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, the Swiss women achieved only two podium finishes in the 2023 World Cup season. Last year’s overall World Cup winner, Keller, is responsible for both. (SDA)
