Crazy: Kiptum participated in a marathon for the third time in his life. He had already shown his great talent during his debut last year. At that time he set the third fastest time in history in Valencia with 2:01:53. And this spring he shone again: in London he missed the world record by just 16 seconds during his second performance. So on the third try we managed to get the record.

“I actually wanted the course record, but now fortunately I was able to improve the world record, which I had not even thought about at first,” said Kiptum after the marathon. His compatriot Kipruto (2:04:02) and the Belgian Adbi (2:04:32) complete the podium in Chicago. (sbe/SDA)
