There are football clubs that claim to be more than just a club. Mostly it’s nonsense. Especially in Basel. Nowhere in Switzerland does what happens on the green lawn have such a direct impact on the mental lives of city residents as on the Rhine Bend.

In the coming weeks the FCB will travel through the villages; test matches against regional clubs are intended to strengthen contact with the supporters. That is a good idea. It could have come from someone like Schultz.
