Shocking scenes at the location of the Ryder Cup, a golf team tournament between the best golfers from Europe and the US. A major fire broke out on the golf course near Rome. An improvised grandstand on the 18th hole caught fire. Black clouds stretched across the sky. Authorities asked residents to close their windows.

According to Golfweek magazine, five fire trucks extinguished the major fires. There have been no reports of injuries so far.

Shortly after the incident, the Ryder Cup Europe Association released a statement and presented its position: “This afternoon a fire was reported in one of the temporary restaurant buildings to the right of the fairway at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club.”

Local firefighters were then called to the scene at 5:07 p.m. and were able to quickly bring the fire under control. The golf course suffered no damage.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. The incident happened exactly a week after the biennial tournament took place. By the way, Team Europe won 16.5 to 11.5. (Gentlemen)
