From January 1, 2024 the new team head for the Swiss show jumping riders: Peter van der Waaij.

In the search for a new manager and team leader, the Swiss Equestrian Association (SVPS) found what they were looking for in the Netherlands. Peter van der Waaij will succeed Michel Sorg in the new year, who will step down at the end of 2023 because he has been appointed CEO of the SVPS.

Van der Waaij, former equestrian journalist and jumping commentator, is 29 years old and was most recently assistant sports director of the Dutch team. Together with his wife, he runs a training and trading stable for show jumping horses in his home country.

“I am very happy to work with the Swiss team, which is among the best in the world, but I am also aware of the great responsibility that this task entails,” said Van der Waaij in an SVPS press release . “I am convinced that together as a team with the riders, their horses, the entire staff, the owners and grooms, we will represent Switzerland at the top of the world.” (Yes)
