Fluminense is in the final of the Copa Libertadores, the South American equivalent of the Champions League, for the second time. In the semi-finals, the club from Rio de Janeiro won the Brazilian match against Internacional Porto Alegre thanks to a 2-1 win in the second leg.

Fluminense managed to turn the tide thanks to two goals in the last ten minutes. The first leg ended 2-2. Fluminense can play in the final on November 4 in their home city of Maracana against Palmeiras, their rivals from São Paulo, or Boca Juniors from Argentina (first leg: 0-0).
