Divorce: Marc Marquez will no longer drive for Honda next season.

After eleven years at Honda, Marc Marquez will move to Gresini-Ducati for the next MotoGP season.

His current employer, Honda, announced that the two parties had “mutually agreed” to terminate the contract early. The 30-year-old Spaniard would be tied to Honda next year.

At Gresini-Ducati, Marc Marquez will ride alongside his younger brother Alex (27).

Marc Marquez leaves because his motorcycle is no longer competitive. He last triumphed in Misano in October 2021. In the World Cup rankings he is only in 15th place with 64 points, but that of course does not do justice to the demands of an eight-time world champion: he won six titles in MotoGP. He celebrated 59 race victories and a total of 101 podium finishes on a Honda. (SDA)
