Alex Frei coaches his Aarau team to victory in Wil.

Aarau and Sion win away at the start of the ninth round of the Challenge League and make a leap forward in the rankings.

Sion wins 3-0 against Xamax and moves up to second place. After the first two goals were scored, Uli Forte’s team from Neuchâtel had to accept the accusation of not having intervened energetically enough. Both Theo Berdayes and Ali Kabacalman took advantage of their freedom, scoring with shots from the edge of the penalty area and, together with substitute Dejan Sorgic, inflicted on Xamax its third defeat in a row.

Wil suffered the second defeat in a row against Aarau and missed the jump to the top of the table. The Eastern Swiss team lost 0-2 in front of its own audience. Responsible for the guests’ goals in the first half were Shkelqim Demhasaj with a beautiful shot and in the second half Henri Koide after a goalkeeping error by Nicholas Ammeter. Coach Alex Frei’s team climbs, at least temporarily, to fifth place after their second win in a row.
