The Ukrainian Football Association wants to boycott tournaments in which Russian teams participate.

Ukrainian teams will boycott UEFA competitions in case of Russian participation. The national association (UAF) announced this on Wednesday following a decision by UEFA to lift the ban on junior teams from Russia.

“The UAF confirms that it will not participate in any competition with Russian teams,” it said in a statement that “strongly condemned” UEFA’s latest decision. At the same time, the association called on other UEFA members to join the boycott.

The England Association is also considering a boycott

The Polish association will follow this suggestion on Wednesday. According to media reports, the English FA is also considering this.

Ukrainian sports have repeatedly called for a complete ban of Russian athletes. He also threatens to boycott the games if his neighbor participates in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

‘Children should not be punished’

UEFA decided on Tuesday to allow Russian youth teams back into Ukraine, despite the war of aggression in the country. The umbrella organization spoke of a “message of peace” and emphasized that children “should not be punished for actions for which only adults are responsible.”

The suspension of club and national teams in the adult sector remains unaffected by the new decision. The youth teams that have been admitted again are not allowed to play their international matches on Russian territory. National flags, anthems and jerseys are also banned. In addition, the boys’ and girls’ U17 teams will then be integrated into already drawn competitions. (AFP)
